Commercial vs. Home: Why 'Gym Quality' Costs $4,000+

Marketing teams love the phrase "Commercial Grade," but technically, this means specific things.
AC vs. DC Motors: Most home units use DC motors. They are quiet but heat up. Commercial units use AC (Alternating Current) motors. They have no brushes, generate less friction, and can run for 12 hours straight without burning out.
Deck Thickness: A standard home deck is 18mm to 20mm. A true commercial deck is 25mm (1 inch) or more. That extra 5mm prevents the deck from cracking under high mileage.
Roller Diameter: Small rollers (under 2.0") require the belt to be tighter, increasing wear. Commercial units use 3.0" to 3.5" rollers, allowing for a looser belt and a much smoother feel underfoot.
