Decoding the Warranty: Don't Get Fooled by 'Lifetime'

A "Lifetime Warranty" usually only covers the steel frame—the part that never breaks. The 1-Year Labor Trap: Most mid-range units offer a "Lifetime" motor warranty but only 1 year of labor. Technicians charge $150–$250 per visit; a "free" motor can still cost you a fortune in year two. The "Non-Transferable" Clause: Warranties apply only to the original purchaser. If you buy used, the warranty is usually void the second it leaves the first owner's house. Environment Voids: Many warranties are voided if the machine is kept in a garage or shed. Dust and humidity are the "acts of God" manufacturers use to deny claims.
