Where you put your treadmill is as important as which one you buy.
The Mat is Mandatory: A rubber mat protects your floor, reduces noise, and prevents carpet fibers from being sucked into the motor. Static electricity attracts dust, the #1 killer of control boards.
Airflow and "Dead Zones": Never push a treadmill flush against a wall. The motor needs to breathe. Leave 2 feet of clearance in the front and 6 feet in the back for safety.
The Surge Protector: Treadmills are giant computers. A power surge can fry a console in a millisecond. Use a dedicated surge protector and avoid sharing outlets with high-draw appliances like AC units.
